my quick thoughts on norwegian wood

after a few months of having reader’s block, finally i finished reading murakami’s norwegian wood. this is my first time reading his novel, before, i have only read what i talk about when i talk about running years ago and i think i liked it. now i will give my quick thoughts after reading norwegian wood. i’ve been wanting to read this novel for a long time since everyone seems to like it. i’ve watched the movie years ago but dont really remember what’s going on with the story lol.

surprisingly, i need a few months to finish it, i started on october 2019 and finished on june 2020. wow. it is not because the novel is bad, no, it’s not bad. i had reader’s block on january and was kinda busy with my thesis, so there’s that. but i think this novel is a little bit boring.. yeah.. when i got in the middle of the novel, when watanabe visited naoko in kyoto, i got really bored and just dont want to try to read anymore. but at the end of last month, i tried it again, and i think it gets more interesting in the end.

overall, i like how murakami describe the details–bizarre details of each characters. i love how the characters really have personality and secrets. i like the story even though it is slow but its beautiful. it’s about life and death, in what way how we choose to live or die. there are some parts that are disturbing to me (about reiko-san) but as i said, i like how the characters have their own story about their pain and love.

so this is my quick review, i like this novel but not my favorite since little boring. however, i still want to read other murakami’s novel and short stories in the future. if you happen to read this blog post, write your thoughts on norwegian wood in the comment! bye.
