To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee [Novel]

Yay finally i’ve finished reading this book~ the oh-so-amazing book and this book made me realize that i lack of vocabularies lol. Talking about this book. this book is well-written of course. i love the way this book started as a flashback and the flashback itself is the main story.

In my opinion, this has many good values. it tells about human behavior, kindness and cruelty, love hatred and also humor and pathos. it is a very good book for children. not only that but also this book has captured the discrimination and racism in America in 1960. This book is regarded as a masterpiece of American Literature. also, it is good for children to learn how to behave from this book. 

Even though this book has southern accent writing style, but i understand it, of course. don’t think i’m too stupid to read such a book hehe :v. well this post is not areal review lol but it just— i just felt like i should post something after i read this book hehehe ;___; 

Well, i just want to recommend this for yall who read this stupid blog post -and i’m sure no one read this -_-

Looking For Alaska by John Green

hi guys, finally after i fought my laziness, i can make a blog post lol

it’s about a novel again. i’m sure that you already know about John Green’s books but i thought i could share about this one book here in my blog. well, actually before i read Looking For Alaska, i have read The Fault in Our Stars and A Diary of A Young Girl by Anne Frank (of course it’s not John Green’s). and last night i finished An Abundance Of Katherines but in Indonesian version one. it’s hard to find English version where i live. but i decided that i will make a post about Looking For Alaska because this is literally my favorite one even though i love other John Green’s books. luckily i have the English version of this book.

but i will not tell you about the whole story, maybe a little spoiler *WARNING*. as i said this is only what i thought about this book. not a real review or whatever.
Synopsis:

Before. Miles “Pudge” Halter’s whole existence has been one big nonevent, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave the “Great Perhaps” (Francois Rabelais, poet) even more. he heads off to the sometimes crazy, possible unstable, and anything-but-boring world of  Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. because down the hall is Alaska Young. the gorgeous, clever,funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed-up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young, who is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. 

After. Nothing is ever the same. 

i love this story because it gives me suspense -when Alaska died. i never thought that she would be died though, and from that i understand why it’s called Looking For Alaska, it’s because they (Pudge, The Colonel and Takumi which are her friends) are looking for the mystery behind her death. whether she suicide or that’s really an accident? (which is not explained in the end). and this story made me cry little lol. well it’s touching, about their friendship, about their own background family. sadly i think i wouldn’t find a real friend like them.

the only thing that i dislike from this book is, when Alaska died, Pudge was only thinking about their kissing. it’s annoying i think, because he is selfish (not willing to call Jake, Alaska’s boyfriend) and it’s only The Colonel who care about her. i personally like The Colonel more than Pudge.

i’m actually not good in explaining guys, besides, there will be definitely grammatically error. so just for in short, i recommend this amazing book to everyone. John Green’s writing style just made me like his books more. oh, it’s his website if you want to read about the questions & answers about Looking For Alaska.

and of course, there are a lot of quotes you can find in this book. one of my favorites is:

Slammed by Colleen Hoover [Novel]

I just finished my reading of Slammed by Colleen Hoover today and it’s really incredibly an amazing book!

To tell the truth, actually i was going to read 13 Reasons Why but i didn’t found it in the bookstore. so i looked around to find another interesting book and found Slammed. before i decided to buy it, i browse about this book in the internet and all i can see is only the great things about this book so i decided to buy it instead.

Well, i’m not going to give much spoiler here. i’m just wanna tell you all that i love everything about this book. the way how Colleen Hoover wrote it, the plot, conflict and how Lake and Will solve their love-problem by reciting a slam poetry at N9NE. also, since i’m a literature student, i love to read the poetry inside this book and read The Avett Brothers’ quote and i’m planing to listen to their songs lol. it is so inspiring for me. this book is such a masterpiece i think. Colleen Hoover is now one of my favorite authors. unfortunately, i haven’t read and buy the second book (Point Of Retreat) and This Girl (third book) yet which one tells about how Lake and Will relationship goes after Lake’s mom -Julia died and in the third book tells about their relationship after they are married.

Oh anyway, the first book tells about Lake’s life after her dad died and move to Ypsilanti, Michigan from Texas. and she met Will there. and within a few days they have more intense feelings, but there was such a shocking revelation which makes their relationship won’t happen and continue.
i really recommend this book if you like reading novels 🙂

Good Memories in Bali Part I

ya, akhir minggu kemarin, aku dan teman-teman seangkatan jurusan bahasa dan sastra inggris mengadakan trip studi budaya ke Bali (walaupun lebih banyak seneng-senengnya sih hehe). dan itu adalah pengalaman pertamaku pergi ke Bali hehe c:
berangkat dari bus jam 3 sore hari Jumat. walaupun janji ngumpulnya jam 1 siang tetep aja ngaret namanya juga orang Indonesia :D. nah akhirnya kedua bus hijau dan biru kita berangkat menuju Bali dan sampai pasuruan masih ishoma dulu di mesjid, abis itu kita langsung capcus deh lanjut ke Bali.
singkat cerita, setelah sampai di Bali jam 1 pagi (O.O) kita istirahat dulu di rumah makan madina yang berada di negara atau negare (?) dan jam 6 pagi kita mulai petualangan kita di Bali!
kita menuju Denpasar dan lamanya euhh mungkin ada ya 4 jam an lah. nyampe di Tabanan langsung deh ada guide lokal yang naik di bus kita, pertamanya aku kaget (maklum kaga pernah ke Bali) tapi si guide ya jelasin kalo di Bali itu setiap bus pariwisata yang masuk ke sana harus di guide sama guide lokalnya :3 untungnya aja yah kita kena ke guide yang lumayan seru dan kocak juga. udah deh si guide langsung di serbu dengan pertanyaan-pertanyaan seputar kebudayaan yang ada di Bali.
rencananya si guide ini mau langsung bawa kita ke Pantai Sanur walaupun kitanya udah ga kebagian matahari terbit di sana. sampe di Sanur jam 10 dan beuuuh panasnya menn ngebakar banget deh pokoknya. abis ke sanur kita lanjut pergi ke Museum Bajra Sandhi keren juga tuh museum ya :3 abis keliling museum, kita berencana shalat dhuhur di mesjid agung yang ada di nusa dua jadinya kita lewatin jalan tol mandara (?) yang menurut aku baguss jadi kayak lewatin jembatan di laut padahal itu kan jalan tol hehe sampe sampe kita rekam tuh sepanjang perjalanan lol.
abis shalat, oiya di samping mesjidnya itu ada 4 tempat ibadah untuk agama lainnya juga 🙂
nah abis shalat ini kita menuju ke pantai pandawa! dan ini tempat yang kataku wow banget dah ga puas aku pengen kesana lagi. pantai pandawa ini di sebut juga the secret beach yang artinya pantai rahasia, karena pantai ini berada di belakang (?) *pokok teerhalangi* gunung gitu katanya, pastau tau ada pantai yang indah langsung deh gunungnya itu dibelah katanyaa.
setelah main-main air dan poto-poto kita jam set 5 an langsung cabut ke pantai kuta maunya sih liat sunset tapi lagi-lagi ga kesampean 😦 hmm gapapa deh walaupun ga kebagian sunset tetep aja kita poto poto disana dan lucunya lagi kita sambil memburu para bule buat poto bareng (norak banget deh lol).
abis dari kuta kita pergi ke krisna buat beli oleh oleh untuk para keluarga, teman dan tetangga(?) kita. beli oleh-oleh, terus maem dan kita pulang deh ke hotel buat istirahat (kita capeekkk bangeett) karena besok kita harus lanjutin jalan-jalan kita di hari terakhir di Bali. 🙂

Harry Potter Series

hey hey hey 😀 lol
kalian tau? aku baru kali ini nonton film Harry Potter dari yang pertama sampeee yang paling terakhir. dulunya aku emang ga suka Harry Potter *ga suka bukan berarti benci loo* ga tau kenapa dulunya aku nganggap HP tuh biasa aja palingan aku dulu cuma nonton yang kedua, ketiga, ama yang kelima kekeke..

tapi liburan sebulan ni mulai minggu kemarin aku nyoba nonton dari yang ppertama ampe yang ketujuh dan yaa sekali nonton aku langsung addicted gitu hehe. ternyata seru banget nih film *nyesel deh ga nonton dari dulu.. 😛

pokoknya nih film amazing banget buatku.. jadi pengen masuk Hogwart haha..
oya, apalagi waktu mereka ngancurin tuh Horcrux *kalo ga salah sih tulisannya gitu. correct me
hebat banget HP emang berani banget dia..

dan juga aku eneng waktu si Draco jadi bantuin HP cz HP uda nyelametin nyawanya Draco, ckckck 🙂
hehe padahal aku udah suudzan giti ke Professor Snape “kenapa dia khianat banget deh dasar licik”
tapi tenyata since i know the truth aku kagum tuh sama si Professor Snape.

jadi, orang* yang dulunya ga suka HP *kayak aku ini* coba aja dulu nonton dari yang pertama. cz pastinya bakalan bikin kamu kecanduan buat nonton film itu sampe seri terakhir 🙂
